Meals on Camels

So there are these people who play in the SCA. And some of them want to dress up and have fun, some want to sing and get drunk, some want to learn sewing and metalworking, and some want to beat their friends over the head with sticks. But they all have to eat. We’re here to help you with that!

D’vorah: Cook and Camp Matriarch

D’vorah loves watching fighters, listening to bards, and strolling the marketplace in search of wonderful products… but she’s not truly happy unless she’s feeding people. D’vorah keeps a kosher home in the modern world, and a kosher campsite in the Current Middle Ages. She lived vegetarian for over a decade out of high school, though she does eat meat now, and is excited to get to share her experience and her food with new friends. She has lots of enthusiasm and ideas, but may be a little hazy on logistics. D’vorah also enjoys pottery, and is just starting to learn about sewing and calligraphy.

In the modern world, Akim is a crackerjack at web design and maintenance, among many other talents. He is personable, not at all shy, and a fairly relaxed person. In the Current Middle Ages, Akim enjoys being master of his little encampment (and of course the vast array of livestock, family, servants, and chattels which they schlep across Known World). If there’s red meat on the menu, you can be sure that Akim is in charge that day. He’s also the “make it happen” guy, always finding the flaws in plans, and usually correcting them before they can reach the “oops” stage. If you have a small child, it’s likely you’ll find the kid crawling all over Akim at some point, and Akim will be just as happy as the kid.
