I meant for these bowls to be huge serving bowls, but because clay always shrinks so much (wet clay is huge, dry clay is smaller, bisque-fired clay is smaller yet, and glaze-fired clay becomes actually tiny by comparison with the original piece)… well, these wound up being about the size of large salad bowls for individuals, rather than enormous salad or corn chip bowls for whole crowds.
