Session Thirty-One: The Hind of the Wildmother

After a tiring day with naiads and celebrations, the group all spreads out to do their things. Stubby elected to work all night on making the fourth and final earring for the group, while Tāmarai had a date night with Larisa, Fisch went to hang out with the black bear who was a guard, and Rinn wrote some letters home.

As he slept, Rinn was visited by the Sky Summoner, Oren, who talked to him about ley lines, magic, and how Rinn’s strength is his magic. Use it wisely and for good, and the Stormlord would always be with him. As everyone else got up in the morning, they went about prepping for the next leg of their journey. The naiads were already working with the fort to ‘build’ a river to the lake, so they could work together. A rumour mill already started that they were going to turn into a town and call it “Victorville.”

Stocked up with travel food, the post cleric asked if they’d mind checking the fantastical tale of a fellow named Artem Leontiou, who lived along the road. Artem was claiming weird things with animals and something about a ‘special deer.’ The cleric thought Artem was a little goofy, but just in case he really did need anything, would they mind?

The group didn’t mind at all, and walked their way towards a lone farmhouse. Atrem was working the field, alone, which was a lot more field than a single man should work. He explained that he used to be blessed by the Golden Hind of the Wildmother, who would come use his salt lick, and his lands prospered as they had for generations. But recently he saw the hind was wounded and she didn’t want to come by, so he was worried someone had hurt her.

Following the game trail, the group ran into some creatures that were more often found in Xhorhas. After defeating the small scouting party, they were spotted by a group of centaurs who roamed the area for the Wildmother. Teaming up, the followed the blood trail of the Golden Hind and determined it to be set out as bait.

Enacting a well thought plan, and the help of a little Wild Magic, the collected heroes was able to defeat the strange creatures. Of note, one of the creatures accidentally banished itself and ended back up on it’s home plane. Stubby was turned colours (cycling through the rainbow) for 24 hours.

The Wildmother blessed them all (advantage on survival checks for the rest of the time they’re on Issylra) and gave them all 500 gold. This would allow Artem to hire people who, thanks to the return of the Hind, would likely come back and work the land. She also blessed Artem’s land for the next 100 years, promising no spoiled crops.
