Session Nine: The Wilds of Isslyra

This marks the beginning of the second arc of “Yeeted & Yoinked”: A Different World.

While the survivors of whatever just happened in Ravinia come to terms with not being on Tal’Dorei still, a young man named Rinn Shrike has been making a new home for himself in New Vasselheim. Rinn is asked, on his day off, to please go with Valdesoc Zorjurn (aka Vlad – a silver tailless Dragonborn and assistant leader of the “Outside the Walls” group from the Slayer’s Take) to the Wilds outside the city, as Vlad’s ancestors demanded he go. Their journey is relatively painless, and boring, until they come to a small group of Far Ranger Guards, huddling behind some rocks.

Their Lieutenant, Newt Boatman, is talking to a group of dusty and bedraggled strangers. It quickly transpires that they are lost, they’re from Tal’Dorei by way of Draconia, and they have no idea how they got there. Vlad leaps from the wagon, spotting Cembiten as his own long lost cousin! The ancestors were right! Vlad wants to take Cembiten (who suddenly looks like a man in his 30s now) to the Dragonborn outpost near the mountains, further away from the city, and Cembiten wants to bring Jeremiah as his protege.

The scandalized Newt uses a sending stone to report in, and moments later is dumbstruck by a message. Rinn is to take the remaining members of the group to meet the Empress of Isslyra, and Vlad is free to take his cousin and Jeremiah. The party bids farewell to Jeremiah with song, before clambering into the wagon with Rinn and a baby-faced guard named Frank. While Rinn is not talkative, Frank happily blabs all about how five years ago Vasselheim was destroyed in The One Day War, and magic is super weird now.

The ride is more or less uneventful, save for a druid from Pyrah, who greets them as they leave the last of the wilds behind. Stubby, recognizing her Aunt Kiki’s people — the Ashari — leaps off the wagon to greet him and ask he send message. The Fire Ashari gives his word — he will ensure the Voice of the Tempest knows that Lady Victoria de Rollo lives.

Thus notified, the party comes to the newly built city of New Vasselheim, where they (minus Frank) are directed to meet with the Empress herself. Rinn leads them to Parliament, where they are first greeted by Ryo Yelmoria, the Master of Secrets (aka head spy) of New Vasselheim, and he makes them known to the Empress – Lydia Briarwood. Empress Briarwood is polite and kind, expressing empathy for those who are lost. She explains she always likes to meet sentient beings who mysteriously arrive in the wilds, as that’s not a very common occurrence, but happens due to the disruption of magic following the destruction of Old Vasselheim.

The party is put up at the (currently empty) Tal’Dorei Embassy, and are now in a strange, new, world.
