Once used by the Chroma Conclave, the only known remaining communication stones were in Vorugal’s Lair in Draconia and General Krieg’s house in Emon. When the Chroma Conclave was defeated, Vox Machina chose to leave the stone in place, to keep tabs on things, but they magically locked access to it, so only members of Vox Machina could enter the protection circle. Lady Vex’halia said that Shaun Gilmore cast the spell.
Stubby (the biological daughter of two members of Vox Machina) was able to gain access.
Item Details
A communication stone is a circular stone, slightly larger than an adult human head. It is a permanent multi-directional device that works in conjunction with children stones. One stone is considered the primary. To activate the stone, one simply needs to look directly at it and address it.
Should the primary stone be destroyed, it’s children will grow cloudy and cease to work. If all the children stones are destroyed, the primary will dim, but can still work should you be able to create another child. One cloudy, the stone can no longer be used, and becomes a fancy paperweight.
It is currently unknown how these stones were made, but the magic is ancient (pre calamity) and none of that hoity toity tower stuff.
Notes:
- Non-dragons can use this once a day for 45-60 minutes.
- Young dragons can use this 5 times a day.
- Adult dragons can use this 10 times a day.
- Ancient dragons can use this an unlimited number of times a day.
